Medical Jokes and Humor on Facebook

Medical humor, jokes, chart farts, hospital bloopers, funny Facebook videos, and a boatload of funnies are yours on Facebook… just friend GiggleMed.

I’ve started to use Facebook a little more lately because it is easier to post longer jokes and funny stories there than on Twitter – and shorter stories and jokes than here, on this blog. Most of the time, I’ll put stuff on both, but sometimes the best medical humor spews forth when I’m commenting on someone else’s wall or Facebook post.

Don’t miss it. Send me a friend request.

Posted by Dun Tzu on the June 7th, 2009

A healthcare marketing firm interviewing a medical humor blog? What could go wrong? Actually, nothing… it might hold some of the keys for healthcare reform… or not. Check it out.

You’ll laugh… you’ll cry… it’s better than Cats.

Medical Humor Gets Serious Interview with GiggleMed

If you happen to be looking for a marketing team for your practice, your institution, your healthcare organization, or your health-related business, I really recommend you look into the Talstone Group. They’re completely awesome… if you’re looking for anything from strategic planning to branding to patient education to target market research and analysis, then BOOYAH… Talstone Group (I’m not sure how the marketing-types will like my “BOOYAH”, but they’re the real deal.)

By the way, they didn’t ask me to endorse their group at all… Well, come to think of it… maybe their marketing is so powerful, they took control of my mind and actually made me want to say something good about them…

Here’s the link to the interview again: GiggleMed Interview with Talstone Marketing

Join Our Medical Humor Social Network

Posted by Dun Tzu on the November 10th, 2008

Imagine a FaceBook or a MySpace that centers around a theme you enjoy… You obviously find health care humor amusing or you wouldn’t be on this page, reading this post. GiggleMed.com is dedicated to relieving stress and burnout for health professionals through the use of humor. But why should you just wait for us to make something funny? You can add to the medical humor world yourself, by posting stuff you find funny or interesting. Here’s how…

It’s GiggleMed’s Medical Humor Social Network through a service called Ning. Here’s how it works. You join for free, choose a user name, and then start building you page/profile with easy-peasy built-in widgets.

You can set up a fully customizable profile with a funny photo, some basic information and everything you’ve contributed to the network. Your “friends” within the medical humor network can subscribe to your material and posts. Or they can just browse your profile and see what you found funny.

You can create groups inside of the social network around hobbies, interests, affinities, geographical locations and more. Imagine the fun you can have with old nursing school buddies, medical school friends, colleagues within your residency program, or other workers in your hospital.

You can get people talking. Start a discussion on any topic and watch other members respond with posts, photos and attachments.

Upload original footage or share videos from popular video services like YouTube, Google Video and Vimeo. You can see GiggleMed videos here before they are released to the public. And you can post your own. No complex scripts to learn, no programming languages to sift through… all easy clicks to have your friends laughing.

Stumbling Upon Humor Sites

Bookmark and share funny sites.

StumbleUpon is a social bookmarking tool that can be a lot of fun. You can install a “stumble” button into the menu of your internet browser. Whenever you click, you will be sent to a web site that either fits the categories you pre-selected as topics you are interested in, or you will be sent to a web site that your friends have flagged as interesting.

GiggleMed is on StumbleUpon. And as we go through sites that we find funny or weird, we flag them. (I give it a “thumbs up.”) You can choose to “stumble” through the sites GiggleMed.com has given a thumbs up or you can go to GiggleMed’s StumbleUpon page and see which sites they are.

Also, if you happen to like one of the posts on this blog, go ahead and give it a thumbs up. You can also review it and post comments for other “stumblers”.

If you have any sites you think we should comment on or stumble, let us know. And if you join StumbleUpon, then tag GiggleMed as a friend.

Medical humor on Squidoo

Although many of you discovered GiggleMed through our first Squidoo lens, some still have no idea what Squidoo is all about. Similar to a blog and similar to a regular website – but it is neither. Anyone can start a Squidoo site (called a “lens”). It is free and you can even make money or have all proceeds go to charity.

We’ve begun several Squidoo lenses, the most recent one being our Chart Farts® Squidoo “lens” to add to all of the funny stuff GiggleMed.com already provides.

If you have a Squidoo lens already, then tag us as a friend (lensmaster name Dun_Tzu) and post your lens link in the comments below. Help GiggleMed make medicine fun again… Start a health care humor lens today.

New and Improved Medical Humor

Posted by Dun Tzu on the September 27th, 2008

Get ready to laugh your glutei off…

Medical humor has a new face. GiggleMed.com has not only changed it’s look, but also the many ways to reach you. The main site is now in blog format, so you can get all of your favorite health care humor, nursing jokes, and doctor funnies in many different ways…

Because of the blog format, you can subscribe to the RSS feeds to bring the laughter directly to you. Just click on the RSS button in the upper left, on top of the side bar. You can pick up the latest posts in your favorite reader or even on your home page.

The blog format also gives you better organization and an easier time navigating to your favorite content. Browse by link title in the menu bar across the top. Or choose the category you want in the left side bar. Or even use the tag cloud to choose posts by keyword.

There’s also a ton of GiggleMed original medical humor available in social media formats, such as Ning, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg, and Squidoo.

You can still get all of your favorite health care humor gifts for doctors, nurses, EMS personnel, pharmacists, secretaries, transcriptionists, technicians, administrators, pharmaceutical reps, residents, interns, and students – all available at the GiggleMed Medical Humor Store.

There are lots of hilarious videos and even songs coming soon – all within the health care theme.

And of course, there’s GiggleMed’s most popular material – medical malapropisms – Chart Farts®. These are medical bloopers either said aloud or written in hospital/office charts. We have thousands of originals and you can get them in multiple formats – via Twitter, on Squidoo, in the blog posts, or directly to your email.

Please feel free to add to our funny medical lists and to add captions to our humorous pictures and imaging. Just post a comment in the comments section below each post.
